Invitation for the Innovation Review articles

Innovation Review is our quarterly online publication published in e-book format, enabling inclusion of videos along with articles and images.
The Innovation Review includes the following:
- Editorial
- A feature article
- Articles and interviews regarding expertise available and research undertaken/planned at Scottish universities on sustainable building design and refurbishment.
- Case studies on testing of innovations for sustainable building design and refurbishment in laboratories at Scottish universities
- Articles on academic/industry collaboration in research, development and testing of innovations for sustainable building design and refurbishment.
- Articles on feasibility studies undertaken and academic consultancy provided to Scottish small to medium sized businesses through the project.
- Support, incentives and funding for sustainable building design and refurbishment
- Information on products and processes developed in Scotland for sustainable built environment.
GUIDELINES FOR ARTICLES
The guidelines below have been developed as an aid for writing articles on innovations for sustainable building design, construction and refurbishment in Scotland. The proposed subtitles are accompanied by one or more questions or suggestions. Images with captions and videos are also welcome. Please feel free to include any additional information related to the innovative product or process.
TITLE. Please propose the article title.
INNOVATION NAME. This can be a product or process for sustainable building design, construction and/or refurbishment.
CHALLENGE. Please describe the challenge/problem that the innovative product or process aims to solve in sustainable building design, construction or refurbishment. Please highlight environmental, social and economic issues that had to be addressed.
Regarding environmental issues, you can refer to:
- the reduction of CO2 emissions
- energy conservation and efficiency
- renewable energy sources
- the use of renewable resources for building materials
- recycling of building materials or components
- water saving and recycling
- waste and pollution elimination
- preservation of flora and fauna
- re-use of land and/or buildings
- extending life of buildings through increased durability, ease of maintenance and/or adaptability, etc.
Regarding the social issues, you can refer to:
- reduction of fuel poverty
- indoor comfort and health
- health and safety
- security
- accessibility
- quality of the built environment etc.
Regarding economic issues, you can refer to:
- whole life costing
- productivity
- job creation
- business expansion
- competitiveness, etc.
SOLUTION. Please describe the product or process and how it meets the environmental, social and economic challenges. A description of the innovation process, the problems faced and how they have been resolved can also be provided. Images with captions and videos with a comment on their content can be included.
APPLICATION. Please provide examples of the application of the product or process for sustainable building design, construction or refurbishment in practice. The results of performance monitoring are very welcome. Images with captions and videos with a comment on their content can be included.
FUTURE. If your company plans to develop further the innovative product or process presented in the article or is involved in the development of new innovative products and processes, please feel free to provide information, including current or sought collaborations with researchers at Scottish universities.
