Maximum Timber
Written by: Edinburgh Napier University

Event Date: 27 January 2012
Venue: MacLean Room, Eden Court Theatre, Bishop’s Road, Inverness, IV3 5SA
Time: 13.30 - 17.00
This intensive half-day session has been specifically tailored towards small to medium sized practices in the Highland area providing architects, engineers and other construction industry professionals with information on the range of materials and products available, and the best practice in the design and use of timber.
This event will also introduce an exciting new initiative of potential benefit to every small to medium-sized practice in Scotland. The Wood Product Innovation Gateway at Edinburgh Napier University is a new initiative aimed at developing a range of products, processes and construction systems from Scottish-grown timber.
The Wood Product Innovation Gateway project will highlight two new and invaluable reference publications for architects.
- The first is on the properties and construction potential of Sitka spruce, the country’s largest softwood timber resource
- The second is the result of eight years of intensive research on the design, installation and performance of external timber cladding.
Both publications are intended to encourage greater and more creative use of UK grown timber and these, together with a third providing guidance on the specification of locally grown timber will be available free to attendees making this one of the best value CPD events.
The events themselves are offered at no cost to small to medium sized architectural practices in Scotland and CPD certificates of attendance accredited by Edinburgh Napier University will be provided to all who attend
